The prince was said to be shaken but unhurt in the accident on Balmoral Estate, which was reported Thursday in The Daily Mirror. The newspaper said Charles's Audi A4 Allroad was "badly damaged" and that the fate of the deer is unknown.
The prince's office at Clarence House declined to comment. Today Charles is in Longueval, France, honoring New Zealand troops who fought in WWI's Battle of the Somme.
"Red deer are a hazard on the roads up here and most drivers have had a brush with them at some point," a source told The Mirror. "Charles is a careful driver, but sometimes they dash out on the road and there's little you can do. He'll have got a hell of a fright."
