Christmas in Kampala
Most of the stories of Christmas that we have been told always have a Jewish looking cast. Certainly they are whites.
Most of the stories of Christmas that we have been told always have a Jewish looking cast. Certainly they are whites. The movie Christmas in Kampala breaks that tradition and has a black cast. Christmas in Kampala is a dramatisation of the birth of Jesus Christ, re-told in present day Kampala.
The cast consists mainly of personalities who are part of NTV’s programming such as Jim Park of Kakkibe Kki, Shiraz Nargis of Better Living, Patrick Masa, Patrick Idringi and Cotilda of Mic Check, Chloe Kemigisha, William Mayombwe, Stanley Nyanzi, Charles Setimba Kenneth Mulalu and many others.
The cast has been beefed up with other well known personalities such as Rabadaba, Golola Moses and Bob Ejike. Directed by Mr Stephen Nyeko, a senior producer with NTV and based on the story of the birth of Christ as told in the Bible, the main gist is, if Jesus was born here in Kampala instead of Bethlehem, what would the story be like?
Elements such as language and humour have been added to the dialogue to make the movie relevant to the viewer.
The movie will air on Friday 24, at 5p.m. with repeats on Saturday 25th at 9.30p.m. and Sunday 26th at 2p.m.
